UHSPA participates in ASSSGD Conference, honours David Kato

Mr. Kivumbi delivering the presentation in Pretoria
The Executive Director of UHSPA-Uganda represented the organisation at the African Same Sex and Sexualities Conference in Pretoria on February 4th where he presented a paper on traces of homosexuality in Precolonial African Societies, with reference to Buganda Kingdom situated in Central Uganda. He noted that Africa had sound tolerance and pluralism to same sex people, stressing that colonialism and early Christian ministries disrupted the social order, and gave rise to homophobia.
The over 100 activists from Africa also paid tribute to David Kato, the fallen gay rights activist murdered in January this year.
